Michaela DePrince has a pretty remarkable story.  An orphan, she escaped her home in war-torn Sierra Leone to become a nationally renowned celebrated ballerina.

She was featured in the 2012 ballet documentary First Position, and captured even more attention performing in the music video for Beyoncé's smash "Lemonade."  She released a memoir entitled Taking Flight: From War Orphan to Star Ballerina, which captured the eyes of another megastar of the stage and screen.

MGM recently announced that Madonna has recently signed on to direct a biopic based on DePrince's memoir.  The singer said in a statement, "Michaela's journey resonated with me deeply as both an artist and an activist who understands adversity.  We have a unique opportunity to shed light on Sierra Leone and let Michaela be the voice for all the orphaned children she grew up beside.  I am honored to bring her story to life."

No word yet on any other production details, but we can't wait!
