Doctor Dressed as Chewbacca Delivers Good News to Young Heart Patient

March 21, 2018

15-year-old Austin Eggleston of Pontiac, Illinois recently received some incredible news delivered by none other than Chewbacca himself. Austin was born with three congenital heart defects. Because of his condition, doctors determined he would need a heart transplant. Austin and his family waited 5 months when all of the sudden good news came their way. Cardiologist, Dr. Phillip Thrush at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, told Austin that when a new heart would be available he would deliver the news in full Chewbacca costume. Austin's favorite movie franchise is Star Wars, so this was fitting. Dr. Thrush followed through with that promise.

In the video shared you can see Dr. Thrush walk in and Austin saying, "Wait...wait...wait...we got a heart? "We got a heart? Do we seriously have a heart?" The boy begins excitedly jumping up and down and high-fives Dr. Thrush who removed his mask.
