5-year-old Billy Nolin just wanted to make sure his local police had a hot Thanksgiving dinner prepared for them. Billy called 911 with a simple and sweet invitation, “Will you come over cause we’re eating Thanksgiving. Thank you. Bye.”
Billy was playing with an old cell phone when his grandfather noticed he was talking to someone. After admitting to his mother that he had dialed 911, and after she explained that 911 was for emergencies only, Deputy Dannon Byrd arrived at their home a few short moments later.
He asked if Billy was the one that dialed 911, and then he dropped to one knee and thanked Billy for the kind gesture. He and his partner, Deputy Aaron Ethridge, let Billy sit in the front seat of their cruiser, activate the lights, and turn on the siren.
Monica Webster, Walton County Sheriff’s Office Lead Communications Officer, said of Billy’s invitation, “With all the bad calls we take on a daily basis, this one was a welcomed happy call that made all of us smile.”
