If you were on Facebook yesterday, you may recall being asked if you were ‘Safe’ from the “Fire in Dallas”. Users across the entire DFW metroplex were notified of multi-alarm fire in Dallas, in which Facebook created a Safety Check for. Like many you’re probably wondering ‘What fire?!’ or ‘How big was this fire, for me to need to check in as safe?’

The fire in question actually happened on Tuesday, in North Dallas near Coit/635. Although the fire was quite large and a check-in may have been helpful on Tuesday… there simply was no need for the confusion on Friday.

While the ‘Event’ on Facebook is dated as 9/20, the notifications and ‘check-ins’ were not; thus creating mass confusion across Dallas Facebook users.

According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, more than 120 firefighters responded to the 6-alarm fire at The Grand Hotel in North Dallas.
