When you drive down Dowdy Ferry road, you might see on the side of the road crosses, lots of crosses a total of 91 white crosses planted. But each one symbolizes the life of a dog.
Dog rescuer Stephanie Timko says: “Those are just the ones we’ve happened to find in a one mile by one mile stretch of Southeast Dallas.”
91 dead dogs dumped in a one mile stretch just in the last eight months.
The dog rescue group patrols Dowdy Ferry and other dumping sites and Crime Stoppers giving $2,500 and additional $1,500 from SPCA for information leading to a dog abuse arrest.
“When I drive down Dowdy and don’t see any more strays or dumped dogs, then I’ll know we’ve turned a corner,” Timko said.
