Football Players Scores Touchdown Points Up To Sky: Suspended

You have seen the gesture many times, player points up to the sky after touchdown.

In this case;  High School football player;  Pedro Banda, 17 years old – Running Back for Dysart High School in El Mirage, AZ   scored a touchdown and then pointed his index finger to the sky he said in thanks to God.  It was a simple gesture however the officials at the game said it was ‘excessive celebration’.

In the first quarter he was flagged and then later in the game scored touchdown pointed is finger up to the sky and then official said that was excessive celebration and now he faces one game suspension.  An appeal is being reviewed by the Arizona Interscholastic Association.

Banda said in interview with Arizona TV Station that he will continue to do the gesture after scoring touchdowns.

“I just thank God for all the power he’s given me to play the game” Banda said.
