I have often asked myself, “How can you do a new Ghostbusters without some of the original cast?”

Original Ghostbusters cast member Bill has veered away from attaching himself to any future re-bootings of the franchise.

Earlier this year, Murray told David Letterman his reason for abstaining is due to Ghostbusters II not doing as well as the first one.

Now, according to CNN, via The Hollywood Reporter, Bill Murray, who played Dr. Peter Venkman in “Ghostbusters” (1984) and “Ghostbusters II” (1989)… will in fact…  join the cast in director Paul Feig’s upcoming installment in the franchise

Feig’s new addition to Ghostbusters is currently filming and stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth.

Now, I wonder if Murray will have a significant role? You would think he would be the new group’s mentor, teaching the finer points of ghost trapping!

Hope the writing will allow Murray to shine.
