I guess their priorities are a little different over in Scotland.
19 year old Ikram Choudhury drove past a man lying in the road, but did not try to help or call the police. Instead, after stopping his car to take a look at the dying man, he Tweeted a photo at 1:56 AM on Sunday. He added the message: “Eeeehm wtf? Some guy just casually lying outside Ocean Terminal.”
When asked by his followers why he didn’t help, Choudhury commented jokingly that he was afraid that he might have been sexually assaulted by the man, adding that the man seemed drunk.
The man Choudhury photographed in a bus lane in Leith, Edinburgh, was mortally wounded when a driver ran him over and failed to stop. It’s understood he was lying in the bus lane when he was hit. He lay without help for what may have been a critical 15 minutes until police arrived at 2.10am and called an ambulance. The man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but died of head and internal injuries shortly afterwards.
Choudhury has been interviewed by police and could possibly be charged with failing to assist the man. Choudhury has since deleted his Twitter account.
It’s all fun and games until Twitter takes priority over assisting a fellow man. This Tweeter is just a TWIT!
