This kinda makes us want to put on our bike shorts and run around the block a few times!!

In 1986, Swedish rock band Europe became an international sensation with the release of their third album, The Final Countdown.  It was a huge commercial success, selling over three million copies in the U.S. alone and peaking at No. 8 on the Billboard 200.

The album’s title track was also a big hit.  “The Final Countdown,” whose lyrics were inspired by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]David Bowie[/lastfm]’s “Space Oddity,” topped the charts in over 25 countries, including the U.K.  The music video was directed by Nick Morris and featured footage from the band’s live shows.

In 1992, Europe went on hiatus.  Eleven years later, they officially reunited and have been going strong ever since.
