Today’s Throwback Video of the Day is [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Missing Persons[/lastfm]’ “Words.”

Anyone else convinced [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Dale Bozzio[/lastfm] is [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lady Gaga[/lastfm]’s mom?

After two years of hard work and self-promotion, Missing Persons scored a deal with Capitol Records and released their debut album, Spring Session M, in October 1982.  It was a hit for the L.A.-based new wave band, selling over 500,000 copies and climbing to No. 17 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart.

The single “Words” was a success at both pop and rock radio, and its video, with singer Dale Bozzio’s over-the-top look and unprecedented special effects, proved to be popular with the MTV audience.
