Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, who is currently receiving treatment for lymphoma, has had his last dose of chemotherapy.

He posted a message on his website stating, “I’ve had the last dose of chemotherapy so hopefully my body will start to get back to normal soon.” Adding, “The steroids were the worst. I’ve now got three weeks of radiotherapy coming up which I’m told can be very tiring, so we’ll see.”

Last November, Black Sabbath announced a reunion tour, and that the band would record a new album with their original line up for the first time since 1978’s Never Say Die. In January Iommi revealed he had been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, and the recording sessions moved from Los Angeles to London so Iommi could be near his treatment center.

The reunion had another hiccup when drummer Bill Ward said he wouldn’t participate in the reunion without a “signable” contract. Ward’s name was left out of Iommi’s newest statement, but he does write, “A big thanks to Ozzy and Geezer [Butler] for coming over to England, it was a big incentive for me, we managed to work most days and have some great new tracks.”

Sabbath had originally planned on a lengthy European tour this summer, but those plans have been changed to allow Iommi to recover. Osbourne, bassist Butler and guitarist Zakk Wylde will perform at many of the dates as “Ozzy and Friends.”  Toni Iommi will perform with Black Sabbath at the Download Festival in the UK in June, and Sharon Osbourne has said they will perform one show in America in August.
