Megadeth Bassist, Dave Ellefson, is studying online to become a Lutheran Pastor.
Looks like Sunday Church service is about to start rocking.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Ellefson is an online student in the Specific Ministry Program at Concordia Seminary.
Ellefson grew up attending Lutheran services in Minnesota, but moved to L.A. and was living the rock & roll lifestyle after joining Megadeth. He entered a 12-step program at 25 and reconnected with his faith.
“Most people want to be a rock star,” said Jon Bjorgaard, pastor of the Lutheran church in Scottsdale, AZ, where Ellefson and his family are congregants. “David’s a rock star who wants to become a pastor.”
Megadeth kicks off a tour with Motorhead soon, and during downtime Ellefson will have to do his homework, “Some people want to morph things together into one,” he said, “but I have a hand in both worlds. I love praise and worship music, and I love heavy metal.”
