Last night, singer-songwriter [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Feist[/lastfm] totally rocked the Majestic Theater!

And since Jack FM is now suffering from a case of the post-concert blues, we’re making her new single “Graveyard” our Song of the Day!

Now, if we could only get rid of this hangover.

As a kid growing up in Canada, Leslie Feist aspired to be a writer and sang in various children’s choirs.  At the age of 12, she was one of a thousand dancers who performed during the opening ceremonies of the Calgary Winter Olympics, an experience that would later inspire her breakout music video.

After spending several years playing in local punk bands, Feist branched out as a solo artist and released her debut album in 1999.  However, Monarch (Lay Your Jeweled Head Down) failed to make a splash on the charts.

In 2004, Feist came back with her second album, Let It Die.  This time, the album was an international hit.  It sold 500,000 copies around the world and was certified platinum in her native Canada.  Because of the success of Let It Die, Feist was nominated for three Juno Awards and won two, including Best New Artist.

Feist spent the next two years touring North America, Europe, Asia and Australia before heading back into the studio for her third album.  The Reminder was released in ’07 and proved to be the singer’s big breakthrough in the States.  The Reminder peaked at #16 on the Billboard 200, while the single “1234” landed at #8 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart.  “1234” was named by Time magazine as one of the year’s best songs, and it also earned Feist Grammy nominations for Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Short Form Music Video in 2008.

Last month, Feist released Metals, her fourth studio album.  It debuted at #7 and sold 38,000 copies its first week.

Feist is currently on a North American tour, which wraps December 6th in Quebec City, Quebec.

Here’s the video for Feist’s big hit “1234.”  It is eerily reminiscent of a dream Jack FM once had about Betty White.
