That elusive first World Series title for the Texas Rangers remains elusive.  The St. Louis Cardinals magical run from 10.5 games out of a playoff spot in August concluded with a 6-2 win over the Rangers for their 11th World Series title.

The game 6 hero, David Freese, got the Cardinals started with a home run in the first inning.  Chris Carpenter, who was able to start this game thanks to rain on Wednesday that pushed the series back a day, got the win and went 7 strong innings for his second win of the series and 4th of the playoffs.

The Rangers could not get any more offense out of their potent lineup than 2 runs early.   Another strong season for the Rangers falls just short of the ultimate prize.  The back to back losses in games 6 & 7 were the first back to back losses for the Rangers since August 23rd, the exact day the Cardinals were the furthest out of the wild card at 10.5 games back.
